| The Company: A world-wide manufacturer of professional, educational and consumer electronic products Summary: Director level position responsible for the execution of client’s product development projects with responsibility for managing and overseeing all product development policies, objectives, and initiatives. In order to be considered for this position, applicants must possess the following minimum requirements: • Local North Bay residents only, no relocations • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (probably EE, but other disciplines are welcome) and at least 10 years experience in a related position • Strong formal project management experience, managing multiple resources (engineering, marketing, manufacturing) interface with all departments to identify deliverables/dates • Demonstrates expertise in the concepts, practices, and procedures related to product development, particularly in consumer or educational electronics • Solid understanding of a broad range of technologies, engineering processes, and disciplines is required • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient with common project management tools and concepts, CAD packages, as well as standard Microsoft Office products • Must be able and willing to travel at least 40 days/year to customer sites, conferences, or other events as necessary for research, presentations, and training • Experience working with Chinese contract manufacturers • ISO 9001 experience Position Responsibilities: • Directs the execution of client’s product development projects. • Works in collaboration with and in parallel to directors of marketing, sales, operations, and finance • Stays abreast of trends in technology and manufacturing, and in the education marketplace and interfaces with customers, product managers, and operations staff to ensure strong competitive position through product development • Within the customer requirements set by the marketing function, acts as chief system architect for the portfolio • Guides in-house and outsourced engineering strategies for each development project; must be immune to ‘not-invented-here disease’ • Monitors all aspects of product development; maintains and enforces the process that ensures meeting project targets for cost, delivery, specifications, product quality, and performance • Helps project managers and product managers connect known customer needs with current or emerging technologies • Guides the work of others, particularly in engineering project management • Directs a team of 8 to 10 engineers, including wireless, electrical, mechanical, and digital hardware disciplines.
